Frequently asked questions
Why is my rank different from what I see in Google?
Your own searches are personalized by location, search history and device. This checker requests a neutral results page for the selected location, language and device, which is closer to what a new searcher sees.
How deep does the rank checker look?
It checks Google's top 100 organic results. A featured snippet counts as a ranking at the position it appears (like Semrush and Ahrefs count it), so owning the snippet usually means #1. If your domain isn't there, the result shows 100+.
Does it check subdomains?
Yes. Any URL on your domain or its subdomains counts, and we show your best-ranking URL plus any other URLs of yours that also rank.
What are SERP features and AI Overviews?
SERP features are the extra blocks Google shows — featured snippets, People also ask, local packs, videos and more. An AI Overview is Google's AI-generated answer at the top; being cited there can win clicks even below position 1.
How often can I check?
The free tool allows a few checks per hour, and results for the same keyword, location, language and device are cached for 24 hours. For daily tracking of hundreds of keywords, start a free trial.
Why does mobile differ from desktop?
Google builds mobile and desktop results separately, with different layouts and features, so positions often differ by a few places. Check the device your audience uses most.
